Purpose of the position
The Finance Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization. The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the organization’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to guide decision-making. This position is pivotal in helping the organization maintain financial integrity and accountability, enabling the successful implementation of peace-supporting initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial planning: Develop and supervise the company's annual budget, as well as make medium and long-term financial projections.
- Cost and expense control: Monitor and analyze operating costs, ensuring they remain within budget and looking for opportunities to optimize them.
- Financial analysis: Perform detailed financial analysis to assess the profitability of projects and lines of business, and assist in strategic decision making.
- Cash flow management: Ensure that the company has sufficient liquidity to meet its financial obligations by monitoring cash flow and planning financing needs.
- Accounting oversight: Ensure accuracy in financial reporting, monthly and annual closings, and compliance with local regulations.
- Financial reporting: Prepare regular financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and variance analysis.
- Regulatory compliance: Ensure that the company complies with all local and regional tax laws and regulations, including tax reporting obligations.
- Relationship with auditors: Coordinate internal and external audits, providing the necessary documentation and reports.
- Investment management: Evaluate investment opportunities and manage the company's investment portfolio, if applicable.
- Risk analysis: Identify and mitigate financial risks that may affect the economic stability of the company.
Requirements and competences to work with us
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience
- At least 4-6 years of experience in financial management roles is required, preferably in organizations in the social impact sector.
Knowledge and skills
- Expertise in financial reporting, budget consolidation, and cash flow management.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and financial software, with the ability to analyze financial data by project and contract.
- Familiarity with auditing processes and internal financial controls.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and frameworks.
- Knowledge of multi-currency management and foreign exchange rates.
- Ability to prepare financial forecasts and conduct variance analysis.
- NGO background or experience is preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish and English, with French as a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills, particularly in budgeting and financial analysis.
