Who we are
Plan País is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening and uniting the Venezuelan diaspora worldwide. Since 2011, it has connected talents, leaders, and organizations to address the social, economic, and political challenges faced by Venezuela and host communities of migrants. Its mission is to link the diaspora with their country of origin, promote collaboration among high-impact stakeholders, facilitate formative experiences, and foster the exchange of ideas to build a sustainable future for Venezuela. Recognized as a global reference, Plan País excels in building networks, driving strategic partnerships, and enhancing the positive impact of its members in Venezuela and abroad.

Purpose of the Position
The Executive Director will lead the consolidation and expansion of Plan País in Colombia, positioning it as a key regional platform to empower the Venezuelan diaspora. With a focus on social impact, they will strengthen employability and youth leadership programs, ensuring a robust, sustainable, and prestigious structure in the areas of migration, youth, and development.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Organizational Development
- Define and execute the 2026-2027 strategy, focused on financial sustainability and scaling high-impact programs.
- Strengthen governance and institutional credibility, building trust with an analytical Board of Directors and international partners.
- Foster an inclusive, innovative organizational culture aligned with the mission of youth empowerment.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors, providing strategic updates and governance support during quarterly meetings.
- Establish a selection committee to streamline key decisions on hiring and strategic initiatives.
Program Design, Management, and Impact
- Drive social impact through the design, implementation, and scaling of programs such as the Bogotá Employability Program and La Neta, tailored to the needs of the Venezuelan diaspora.
- Implement Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) frameworks to measure outcomes and support data-driven decisions.
- Ensure programs address the aspirations and barriers faced by Venezuelan youth leaders in Colombia and beyond.
Partnership Development and Fundraising
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with corporations, foundations, community organizations, and international agencies.
- Lead fundraising efforts, including proposal development, donor acquisition, and management, to double the annual budget (~$125,000).
- Represent Plan País at high-level events and in the media to enhance visibility and support.
Team Leadership and Operations
- Manage a team of four consultants in Colombia, fostering a high-performance environment aligned with the mission.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of new roles, establishing key performance indicators.
- Ensure compliance with Colombian nonprofit regulations, including the establishment of a local legal entity.
Requirements and competences to work with us
Education
- University degree in social sciences, business administration, international relations, political science, economics, law, or related fields.
- Preferably a postgraduate degree (master’s or equivalent) in nonprofit management, international development, public policy, or areas related to social impact.
Experience
- +6 years in program management and/or leadership in nonprofit organizations, with a proven track record of scaling high-impact initiatives.
- Experience in developing strategic partnerships and fundraising, ideally with international donors.
- Track record in designing and managing employability, education, or youth leadership programs in Latin America.
- Prior experience with migrant communities or integration contexts, preferably with the Venezuelan diaspora.
- Demonstrated ability to manage small teams and budgets (~$125,000 annually) with transparency and efficiency.
Technical Knowledge
- Design and management of social programs, with an emphasis on employability and youth leadership.
- Knowledge of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) frameworks to measure impact.
- Understanding of regulations for nonprofit organizations in Colombia and global best practices.
- Experience in fundraising, including proposal writing and donor management.
Languages: Bilingual in Spanish and English (spoken and written) with advanced communication and presentation skills.
Software: Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Trello, Asana), office suites (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace), and data analysis platforms (e.g., advanced Excel, Power BI, or similar). Knowledge of digital communication platforms is a plus.
