Purpose of the Position
Will spearhead the expansion of Toroto’s carbon business unit by executing a robust commercial strategy aimed at attracting investment, scaling high-impact projects, and cultivating strong relationships with global clients and investors. As a strategic partner to the Carbon Director, this role will play a pivotal part in driving Toroto’s growth and positioning in the climate solutions market, combining strategic vision with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute the commercial strategy for the carbon unit, focusing on expansion, diversification, and alignment with short-, medium-, and long-term goals.
- Lead business origination, securing national and international investments (>15M MXN) for carbon projects in Mexico.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with funds, corporates, and institutions in the Global North, serving as the unit’s commercial lead.
- Supervise the commercial team, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration.
- Develop a network of key contacts through participation in conferences, events, and networking to position Toroto.
- Manage client prospecting in a specialized market using direct outreach and cold calling.
- Conduct complex negotiations for carbon credit sales and strategic investor partnerships.
- Drive new business lines, such as an in-house trading desk, to add commercial value.
- Optimize commercial tools (CRM, Income Plan) to efficiently manage the pipeline and performance.
- Manage long sales cycles (6-12 months for new clients, 4-8 months for existing ones), prioritizing results and sustainability.
- Meet commercial KPIs, including revenue, lead generation, client diversification, and year-over-year growth.
Requirements and competences to work with us
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related fields.
- Additional studies in sustainability, finance, negotiation, or leadership (preferred).
Experience
- Minimum 5 years in B2B commercial roles, ideally in specialized markets.
- Experience in managing strategic accounts or regions (preferred).
- Knowledge of impact sectors: carbon markets, sustainability, renewable energy, nature-based solutions, or regenerative agriculture (preferred).
- Experience with project finance or investor relations (preferred).
- Background in communication or marketing (valued).
Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of financial concepts, financial statement analysis, and financial modeling.
- Proficient in CRM tools (Salesforce, Oracle, or Dynamics preferred).
- Advanced English proficiency (mandatory) for negotiations, presentations, and conferences.
- Knowledge of Portuguese or another language (a plus).
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with AI agents (a plus).
